Early Voting

Conveniences of Early Voting

  • During this period, voters are able to vote at any participating early voting location in the county in which they are registered.
  • Individuals are able to register to vote when they plan to vote. Proof of residence is required. More information regarding Same Day Registration can be found here.
  • Polling locations serve as a drop-off for absentee ballots. If you do not wish to mail your ballot, you may return it to an Early Voting location, and it will securely be delivered to the Board of Elections on your behalf.
  • Due to the length of this period, polling locations may be less busy than on Election Day.

Absentee Voting

If you are a registered voter of Jackson County and choose not to vote in person, you may request an absentee ballot to be mailed to you. Any registered voter in North Carolina may request, receive and vote a mail-in absentee ballot in most elections. No special circumstance or reason is needed to vote by mail in North Carolina.

To request an absentee ballot, visit the NC Vote By Mail website or call the Jackson County Board of Elections at 828-586-7538 for more information.
