Printedople ballots for the 2026 General Election are available now!
You may see campaigners sharing sample ballots. These ballots should be clearly marked in a way indicating they are not live, official ballots. If they are pre-marked samples, they should include a statement about "Paid for by...", "Authorized by..." or "Not authorized.." statements.
Note: All Jackson Co. contests are the same across all precincts; ballots are just organized with labels based on the voter's precinct. For example: If you see a sample for Barker's Creek, the exact same contests/layout will be on the ballot for Caney Fork etc.

This nonpartisan community event will help folks prepare for the upcoming election. The BOE can verify your voter info, register new voters, make voter photo IDs, assist with absentee requests & provide all the info you need on polling sites, sample ballots & voting methods!
Other attendees may include local parties, candidates, elected officials & community organizations talking to guests one-on-one. It's going to be a no-pressure, neighborly, debate-free chance to civically (& civilly) engage!

We received almost 40 youth submissions for Jackson County's 2026 "I Voted" sticker! Thanks, artists!
And nearly 300 members of the public voted to choose their favorite design!
At the August 4 meeting of the Jackson Co. Board of Commissioners, we announced our top three finalists and the winning design!
The top three finalists will all receive certificates and local business prize packs at an upcoming Board of Elections meeting. Congratulations to the artists!
Naomi's design will be available for voters at all Jackson Co. voting sites (while supplies last). Come vote to receive your custom sticker!
All NC voters are asked to provide a photo ID when voting. Most voters have an NC driver's license or other acceptable form of photo ID. Registered voters can receive a FREE voter photo ID at their county BOE office.
No special documents are needed, you do not have to make an appointment & oftentimes, IDs can be issued on-the-spot within a few minutes! Voters simply complete an ID request form with basic information and have their photo taken; an ID is provided over-the-counter immediately or by-mail. Such IDs are completely free and can be used when voting for ten years!
If you would like a voter photo ID, visit the Jackson Co. BOE office or outreach event to complete a request form and have your picture taken.
